If you’ve ever lived in Colorado, chances are you’ve heard of the Manitou Incline. If you haven’t (lame), what you need to know is that this insane trail is composed of washed out railroad ties at a steep incline, taking hikers from around 6,500 feet to 8,590 feet in elevation in about three-quarters of a mile.
Doing the Incline for the first time is something of a rite of passage for a Coloradan. No matter how in shape you are, it will push you to your limits. If you’re like me, though, and live in a fantasy land where you could ‘probably do, I don’t know, like, a 7 minute mile, if I really tried,’ then the experience poses a particularly unique physical and mental challenge.
