I can only imagine what it was like for European explorers to set foot on Maine and be overwhelmed by all the natural beauty, from rocky shores to rolling green hills.
This aerial clip from the Smithsonian Channel gives a taste of Maine’s history and its incredible landscape. The views from 0:39 and 0:51 are particularly breathtaking. The Pine Tree State is in a league of its own.
