1. Granville Dog Park
This one received four- and five- star ratings. You can access it from highway 45 by turning onto the Good Hope Road exit. It is found at the intersection of Fond Du Lac Avenue. Furthermore, it provides several acres of workout space for not only your pooches, but it also provides you exercise. It is fully fenced in, so your dogs can run free. It has walking trails, too.
This park offers both grassy and hilly areas, which at least one of provides a cool spot for you to rest on hot days. This park is near a river that is shallow enough for wading for both you and your dog. It seems to be less “busy” than other parks, so this place is recommended for quiet reflection. This recreational area also has benches, poop bags, and garbage cans placed throughout it.
If you are planning an outdoor picnic, this is one of the best places to go. You would have plenty of space to lay a blanket – just watch out for the poop. However, there should not be much of that because the dog owners seem to make a priority to keep the place clean.
2. Estabrook Dog Park
A majority of the reviews given by other dog lovers were at least four stars. Pet owners who have been here said they like Estabrook’s close proximity to the Oak Leaf Recreational Trail. This park has two different areas for dogs to roam. One is for canines of all sizes, and the other is specifically for small dogs.
It has at least three acres of off-leash play space, and it also features a pavilion, benches, poop pickup station, and water dishes. It’s an excellent place for you and your pet if you prefer a more rugged location. Just watch out for the burs that might be on some of the walking trails!
All in all, however, most people seem to have loved this park for the following reasons: closeness to the river, space for bike riding, and Frisbee throwing, grilling sites, and more. Some people also come here to throw some footballs, and it also has been the site of outdoor festivals.
It probably is an ideal spot if you want to picnic outdoors, too. You could find plenty of spaces to site both on the ground and off the ground.
3. Bay View Dog Park
This one has only one acre of space, but that should be plenty. It’s a fenced in area, so your animal can run free. Some people who have brought their furry friends here have raved about the friendly park staff on site. Furthermore, if you and your pooch need shade, all you have to do is rest for a while underneath the highway overpass.
This park is in a convenient central location only a few blocks from the Milwaukee Bay. It is highly recommended if you live near here. You could let your dog (or dogs) run around here without a leash. Then, perhaps take a walk along the bay. If you have a group with you, one of you could do a food run if you haven’t brought your own lunch. It provides some natural space, but it also is near metropolitan civilization. Therefore, it is like having the best of more than one world especially if you are a busy professional.
4. Currie Dog Park
This one is quite small, but it does have a wooded area and the dogs can play freely in the fenced area. You also will find hills and plenty of paths to explore. It has benches, and some of the walking trails are located in the on-leash area.
This park is in Wauwatosa, which is a part of the Milwaukee metropolitan area. You could stay in the park, or you could take a walk near the Menominee River. It provides the perfect mix of nature plus convenience, and it is near West Capitol Drive. If you need a quick bit to eat, there is a Subway nearby. Walgreens is also close to this park in case you need picnic or dog-walking supplies. The park itself as well as the surrounding areas provides plenty of green spots for you and your animals to enjoy.
It might be the best place for you to bring your dog on your lunch break if you live near where you work. You and your furry friends will all get the exercise you need even if you do have a demanding career and a family. After all, it could be literally right in your back yard – or at least close to it.
