1. Spring Breakers
Spring breakers have quite the reputation in this state. They come in blasting music, destroy everything, and then go back to their lives at home leaving Floridians to clean up the mess.
Sure, these college kids do a ton for the local economy of the many spring break destinations in this state, but most Floridians would say they’d rather not have to deal with them.
2. Frozen Seafood
Why would any Floridian ever buy frozen seafood shipped from across the country when they’ve got everything they need fresh and ready for the catching? Scoring the fish for a great seafood dinner here is as easy as stopping by the local seafood trucks.
3. Snow
People don’t live in Florida because they like snow. As you might expect, pretty much anything that falls from the sky tends to send this state into a tizzy.
4. Fearing The Gators
With some estimates saying that there are close to 1.5 million gators in this state, Floridians don’t have much of a choice but to go about their daily lives assuming one of these creatures won’t chomp down on their arm.
Gators aren’t actually too confrontational when it comes to humans unless they feel threatened. All Floridians know that if they keep a safe distance, they’ll probably be fine…probably.
5. Mediocre Oranges
Once you’ve had a Floridian orange, others just won’t do. Nowhere else in the world has oranges as flavorful and juicy as the ones grown in the Sunshine State.
6. Complaining About All That Humidity
It’s hot and humid here. Get used to it. Floridians are well over the fact that stepping outside can make you sweat through your shirt in an instant. It’s just one of the side effects that comes along with living in a tropical paradise.
7. Lovebug Collisions
Thanks to the heavy presence of lovebugs in the area, even a short drive at night can leave a car covered in blood and guts. There’s not really a way to beat this minor inconvenience. Floridians just have to clean their cars more often.

8. Fancy Nuts
Other states can keep their $10 bags of pistachios, Floridians do just fine with the nuts they can find at roadside stands. A very popular snack in Northern Florida, the boiled peanuts in this state are some of the best around.
9. Negative Stereotypes
Floridians are well aware that the rest of the country thinks they’re crazy due to the strange selections of their local stories that make the national news. Obviously everyone in Florida isn’t quite so strange, but keep spreading the stereotype—at least it might keep some of the tourists away.
10. Lines At Disney World
The “most magical place on Earth” isn’t quite so magical when you’re sitting in line for two hours to take a trip through a creepy room filled with mechanical children singing “It’s a small world after all…” Fortunately, the local Floridians all have their tricks for beating the tourists, knowing exactly which days are the cheapest and the least crowded.
11. Driving Hours To Golf
Floridians are spoiled when it comes to hitting the greens. With close to 1,500 golf courses spread around the state, you’re never far from a world-class golf course.
12. Dress Clothes
It’s always hot and sunny, of course people aren’t going to wear suits to work constantly. Floridians might dress up for important meetings, but most employers have a pretty relaxed view on the dress code. They’d rather their employees by comfortable than in a sweat soaked suit and tie.
13. Hanging Chads
Florida always seems to take the center stage by the end of the presidential election season, including the year when ballots where infamously miscounted due to improperly punched holes. Don’t blame the Floridians though, they’d rather have all that election business done with quickly, too.
14. Tourists
Sure, tourists bring tons of money to the Sunshine State, but most Floridians constantly wonder if it’s really worth all the hassle. Adding tons of congestion to roadways, people around here are just thankful that the tourists tend to stick to a few certain areas.

15. Explaining Why Florida Should Really Be Several States
North Florida, Central Florida, and South Florida are so different, at times they seem like they belong in different parts of the country. North Florida is more similar to the rural Southern America like Alabama and Georgia. Central Florida is filled with tourist attractions and colleges, and Southern Florida is much more tropical, filled with culturally diverse places like the Miami metro. This state is much longer than most people realize.
16. Sudden Torrential Downpours
Florida isn’t all sun and games. While you can usually work on your tan around here, you’ve always got to watch out for the sudden rainstorms that seem to roll in at a minute’s notice. If you’re caught outside, you’ll be soaked.
17. Mosquitos
With so much water and warm weather in the Sunshine State, Florida makes the perfect breeding ground for these pesky little bugs. Don’t leave home without your bug spray. That’s one mistake no Floridian makes twice.
18. Turn Signals (And Various Other Basic Driving Rules)
Home to notoriously bad drivers, taking the wheel in the Sunshine State can seem riskier than jumping out of a plane without a chute at times. Locals tend to blame the tourists, but that’s mostly because it’s easier than actually training themselves to be more responsible on the roads.
19. A Bad Day Fishing
If you’ve got a pole in your hand and the line is in the water, it’s basically impossible not to catch something around here. Whether you’re fishing in open water or at one of the many lakes and rivers in this state, Florida is one of the hottest spots for fishing in the country.
20. Parallel Parking
Most Floridians don’t really have to parallel park much throughout their daily lives. This makes it a big problem when one of them travels to a big city like New York or Chicago. Do yourself a favor and practice a few times before you leave.
21. Ignoring Instate Rivalries
Florida is home to more big sports teams than almost any other state. They’ve got three NFL teams, two MLB teams, two NBA teams, two NHL teams, and one MLS team, along with countless college squads and a huge minor league baseball presence.
Needless to say, there are tons of rivalries constantly on the brink of explosion in this state. People do their best to keep it under wraps, but you’ll still hear of an occasional fight that breaks out between two fans from time to time.
22. Explaining That Florida Really Isn’t That Crazy
It’s always sunny, there are tons of beaches, and everyone is beautiful. Florida is a good place to live. Of course, there are a few crazy people that the national news loves to focus on—but that’s probably just because they’re jealous of how awesome the Sunshine State really is.
