1. Wisconsinites Can Handle Their Liquor
It’s not like this is a secret. At times it can seem like every business on a street in this state is a watering hole of some type. What might be considered a state-wide drinking problem in some parts of the country is just a way of life in Wisconsin. Admit it. You’re jealous.
2. It’s Packers Or Die
If you’re in Wisconsin, don’t cheer for another team. The people here are so in love with the Packers that things probably won’t end well for you.
3. Yes, Everyone Loves The Badgers
No college team around the country has a fan base that’s more committed than the Badgers. Come game day, entire cities seem to shut down as the streets fill with red.
4. Brats ARE NOT Hot Dogs
A hot dog is really just a tiny tube of mystery meat, while a brat is an entire delicious meal in itself. Made with a healthy portion of a high quality protein, one beer brat will have you swearing off their tiny, pink look-a-like for good.
5. They Don’t Call Us Cheeseheads For Nothin’
If there’s one thing that Wisconsin loves more than football and beer, it’s cheese. Wisconsin makes the best in the country, so it’s no surprise that the average Wisconsinite probably has at least 4 varieties of this stuff in their fridge at any given time.
6. We Drink PBR But We’re Not Hipsters
Wisconsinites are getting tired of people associating the Milwaukee-born Pabst Blue Ribbon beer with this new generation of trendy young folks. Drinking PBR in Wisconsin is one thing that will never go out of style.
7. People In Wisconsin Are A Bit Old Fashioned
The only thing worse than when a bartender doesn’t even know how to make an Old Fashioned is when a bartender makes your Old Fashioned with something other than brandy. This is the proper way to do it and it’s insulting to Wisconsinites when they get this favorite wrong.
8. Football Season Really Is That Big Of A Deal
Whether you’re talking pro sports or college games, Wisconsinites love them some action on the gridiron. Never get in the way of a fan here and the big game.
9. Quit Ignoring Summerfest!
One of the most underrated music festivals around, if you’re not in the Midwest you rarely even hear about Summerfest. However, lasting 11 days with over 700 bands and around 1,000,000 screaming fans, it’s no surprise that many musicians refer to this as “the Big Gig.”
10. Tailgating Isn’t Just A Couple Hot Dogs And A Beer
Wisconsinites take tailgating to a whole new level. The best part about going to a game in this state tends to be the partying that takes place before and after the contest.

11. Custard Is NOT Ice Cream
While most outsiders think these two desserts are the same thing, expect a Wisconsinite to correct you. The high butterfat and egg yolk content in custard gives it a much smoother, creamy consistency, truly improving on an America favorite.
12. Snow Doesn’t Mean Stop Driving
One skill that every Wisconsinite seems to have is snow-driving. Nothing gets more annoying than when someone with an out-of-state license plate is creeping down a lightly dusted road slowing everyone else down.
13. Wisconsin Isn’t A Frozen Tundra
There’s this assumption that life in Wisconsin is a cold and miserable one. That couldn’t be farther from the truth. Come the warmer months of the year, Wisconsin turns into a paradise full of beautiful lakes and wilderness to explore.
14. Nothing Will Change How Wisconsin Feels About The Bears
No matter what your argument is, a Packers fan will never like the Bears. The Bears will always and forever, still suck.
15. Quit Complaining About The Bugs
Yes, Wisconsin has tons of bugs during the summer…this is a well-known fact. It’s thanks to all the lakes. Just suck it up and hope your bug spray doesn’t wear off.
16. Fish Frys Aren’t Just About The Fish
While some might think it’s a bit odd to have fried food parties on a weekly basis, after heading to one for yourself you’ll realize it’s not so strange. Offering a chance to see tons of friends, get drunk, and eat tasty food, you’d have to be crazy to knock this tradition.
17. For The Last Time, It’s A Bubbler
A water fountain is a decorative item, okay? A bubbler is something that you take a drink from. If only this would catch on across the rest of the country.
18. “Up North” Is Really Code For “Leave Me Alone”
In Wisconsin, the term “Up North” really means a secluded lakeside spot somewhere where one can get away from it all. If someone says they’re headed “up North”, try not to bug them with stressful things like work.
19. Quit Counting Calories
If you’re counting calories in Wisconsin, you’re gonna have a bad time. Everything awesome here tends to take huge chunks out of your daily allowance.
Just look at a few of the things the Badger State is known for: cheese, brats, custard and beer. At least there are plenty of fun things to do outside here to work off these foods that are so delicious they’re impossible to turn down.
20. Looking For A TYME Machine Doesn’t Make you Crazy
Whenever a Wisconsin starts seeking out a “TYME machine,” outsiders instantly assume that their friend has lost their mind. Obviously they’re not actually looking for a means to turn back time. Here a TYME machine is an ATM.

21. Some Words Here Are Funny, Just Keep Trying
Wisconsin is home to tons of unique words thanks to the local history. Stop getting so embarrassed when you can’t pronounce something like Trempealeau or Outagamie on the first try. Most people can’t.
22. Everyone Isn’t Actually Sick On Opening Day Of Hunting Season
There are tons of woods here and people like to hunt. If you’ve got employees in Wisconsin, don’t give them a hard time for spending one of their hard earned sick days so that they can go get some game meat for their family.
23. Wisconsinites Will Never Stop Saying Some Things, Or No?
Wisconsin has a ton of regional terms like “stop and go light” and “bubbler” that you won’t hear many other places. Some people here also tend to say “or no?” at the end of every other sentence.
Quit pointing it out and just accept these differences as something that makes this place special.
24. These Aren’t your Freezer Section Cream Puffs
Cream puffs you find most places and cream puffs you find at the Wisconsin State Fair really shouldn’t even be considered the same type of food. The Wisconsin variation is just that much better.
25. Wisconsin Will Never Stop Liking Polka
Sure, most Wisconsinites might not have this genre of music pumping through their headphones, but with deep Polka roots embedded in the Milwaukee area, the people in this state will always have a soft spot somewhere in their heart for these energetic tunes.
26. Extreme Friendliness Isn’t Sarcasm Here
If someone is coming from a place where people tend to keep more to themselves, they’re in for a shock once they get to Wisconsin. Don’t worry — all of the strangers that keep talking to you aren’t mocking you for being a tourist. People here are really just that nice.
27. We Know The Cheesehead Hats Look Funny
People always want to hear the story behind the cheesehead hat, often after making fun of a Packers fan for wearing it. Originally a term started by Illinois sports fans as a slam, their plan backfired as this term was embraced in the form of a fashion statement.
28. Pizza Toppings Aren’t As Black And White As You Might Think
In most parts of the country, the standard pizza toppings are pretty predictable: pepperoni, sausage, peppers, olives, etc. However, at Ian’s Pizza the topping list is seemingly endless featuring crazy things like mac n’ cheese, stuffed ravioli, and even a quesadilla-style slice.
29. Drinking A Spotted Cow Is Completely Normal
The name might be funny, but this beer is seriously incredible. Paying homage to the farming industry that helped build Wisconsin, every time a Wisconsinite takes a sip of this New Glarus favorite, it’s a reminder that they’re home.
30. You’ll Never Convince A Wisconsinite There’s A Better Place To Be
If someone grew up in Wisconsin, they’ve already got all the evidence they need to know it’s the best state in the country.
With vibrant seasons throughout the year, some of the best cuisine in the country, and plenty of the friendliest people you’ll ever meet, Wisconsin is one state that’s pretty dang near impossible beat.
