When you pick up something at the store, you probably don’t think about how it got there. If the item came through the docks of Long Beach, California, you’ll have a better idea how it got to you after seeing this fascinating time-lapse video.
Alex Hallajian filmed months of dockworkers loading containers on and off of ships, trains, and trucks to get these items into the supply chain. The under-three-minute video gives you a compressed look at the all-day-all-night action. It’s amazing to watch — especially at 1:24, when you see how much the ship rises and falls as its load changes.
Ponder all that next time you see a “Made In” label.
