Need a tearjerker? Ditch “Steel Magnolias” for one doctor in Steel City. Honestly, watching Pittsburgh’s Dr. Jim Withers and his help with the homeless is one of the most inspiring things you can do today.
Since 1991, Dr. Withers, aka the “street doctor,” has spent five nights a week tending to the medical needs of the homeless that live under Pittsburgh’s many bridges. Listening to him talk about his practice—how his passion has turned to total compassion— is insanely touching. Check out Withers’ paying it forward at the 1:50 mark where he trains a med student to treat the homeless.
I don’t know about you but I’d like to see Withers’ practices spread like wildfire.
