When you move to a new area you take many factors into consideration. For those of with dogs, one factor that owners take into consideration is if there are any dog parks in the area where your four legged family member will have room to get plenty of exercise. This is especially important for those who do not have a large backyard or who live in an apartment. Luckily, there are a variety Little Rock dog parks available for you to choose from. These five options will give your pouch plenty of fun.
1. Paws Park at Murray
Murray Park is located along the banks of the Arkansas River in the heart of Little Rock. There are two and a half acres of land cordoned off that form Paws Park and it is the perfect place to take your dog. Two acres are fenced off for larger dogs (those over 30 lbs) and one half acres is fenced off for smaller dogs (those under 30 lbs). Dogs are allowed to be off-leash in these areas and there is plenty of room for them to run and play. There are also water troughs and fountains for when they get thirsty.
Five foot fences surround the larger dog area and four foot fences surround the areas providing a nice barrier to keep your pet safe. There are also secure entrances and exits where you don't have to worry about your pet running out when someone else enters the area. There are also rules set in place to keep you and your pet safe. Workers are present to help enforce the rules, but for the most part visitors will police themselves and follow rules. Paws Park is probably the most popular of Little Rock dog parks.

2. Rebsamen Park
Rebsamen Park is also located on the Arkansas River. The park is more widely known for its luxurious 9-hole golf course, but it does have advantages for you and your pet. While not as large as Paws Park, it does still offer a large dog run so your dog can expel all their pent up energy. The park offers plenty of shade trees and benches for you to stay cool and rest while your dog runs around.

3. Burns Park
Burns Park is located just across the Arkansas River in North Little Rock. It encompasses over 1,700 acres along the Arkansas River and has a special area set aside just for dogs. The dog area is known for its shade trees and its completely enclosed play area. There are bags and water troughs for your dog's fun and convenience. You can also rest assured that there are no dogs present at the park with any contagious disease as a requirement to enter the park is that you have current vaccination tags on your dog. If you have multiple dogs, you will also enjoy the fact that each person can bring two dogs with them, so there is no need to worry about leaving one of your family members at home. The dog park area is very large, however, there are no fences to separate the small and big dogs from each other like at Paw Park.

4. 4 Paws Park
4 Paws Park is located a short drive northwest of the city and is well worth the drive. 4 Paws is completely off-leash, so you don't have to keep your dog bound to your side and can let them run free to the heart's content. The area is fenced in so you don't have to worry about them running to far either. There are many shade trees around the area so that you and your dog can relax after playing and cool down. The water troughs will provide your dog with a refreshing drink as well. The park is not part of a larger park, so everything about it is completely dedicated to being enjoyable to pet owners and you will not find anyone there scared of dogs. However, there aren't fences separating smaller and larger dogs, so if that is a problem you may consider a different park.

5. Pinnacle Mountain State Park
Pinnacle Mountain State Park is located a little bit west of the city and is over 20,000 acres of mountains, hiking trails, and adventures for you and your dog. One downside of the park is that it is not off-leash, so your dog will be bound to you and not able to run freely. However, if you both enjoy the outdoors there are many dog-friendly hiking trails the two of you can go on together. Wind your way through the twists and turns of the mountains and stop to take in the breath taking views the area has to offer. There are plenty of streams and ponds for your dog to get drinks out of. You can even walk along the Maumelle River or Little Maumelle River. The Arkansas River Trail goes right through the heart of the state park and links the area to other parks throughout the city. You can also camp at the park, so you and your dog may like an overnight trip in the great outdoors.
