All schools have their faults, school systems make due with all they are given by our government these days. I am not a helicopter parent hovering at every minute, is that how children were handled 50 years ago? They were allowed to be children. Other reviews I feel give a poor impression of our school that I believe are unfair. The teachers do their job and care about each child. I've seen my children grow and learn each year. They enjoy school and enjoy learning because of the teachers and the environment they are in. There are areas that could see improvement, no school is perfect. Please keep that in mind. They strive every day to address these issues. I am proud to send my children to a school they like to go to, where I feel they are safe, and where I know they are learning. Read Full Review

This school is well below average on academics, parent relations, and even the state standards. Many times I make an appointment and it miraculously gets erased or changed. Last year they said they would be starting state core standards this year, a full 2 years behind The teachers do not seem to care if your child is learning as long as they pass. their class size is well above 20. I recommend sending your child elsewhere.Read Full Review

I have been very disappointed in the Alta Elementary School. My child had 50 students in his K class, and the school decided to only provide two teachers for the majority of the year (25 kids per section). Also, in my opinion, the supervision & safety of the students outside of the classroom setting is not up to par. Students are able, and do, exit the building for recess and play without any adult supervision for up to 10 minutes after their lunch. I think the leadership is weak, and parent and teacher concerns are often discounted. I have had positive experiences with the teachers, as have my kids, however, it is difficult to expect all the students to receive the learning and attention they are entitled to when the class sizes are so far above the recommended size of [the] IA Dept of Education and Nat'l Education AssnRead Full Review
