The 5 Safest Neighborhoods in San Jose

California’s 3rd largest city, and the 10th largest in the nation, San Jose is the leading city in Silicon Valley. It’s well known for its affluent population, and a much lower crime rate than cities of a similar size, so overall this is a safe place to live. Which are the top five safest neighborhoods in San Jose? We’ve listed them according to the overall crime index, taking the figures for property crimes and violent crimes, and showing them per 100,000 residents so we get an accurate picture across the five. Here they are:

5. Cambrian Park

Situated south of Central San Jose, the neighborhood of Cambrian Park is the 5th safest neighborhood in the city. The crime index is 47 percent lower than the San Jose average, with just 175 violent crimes per 100,000 residents, and 1,199 property crimes per 100,000 residents on average each year. 4. West San Jose

The westernmost neighborhoods in the city, West San Jose is bounded by the city of Santa Clara to the north, the San Tomas Expressway to the east, De Anza Boulevard to the west, and Prospect Road to the south. West San Jose is safer than almost 78 percent of the neighborhoods in the city, and has a crime index 56 percent lower than the San Jose average. You have only a 1 in 683 chance of being the victim of violent crime in this neighborhood.

3. Rose Garden

Named for the San Jose Municipal Rose Garden in the heart of the neighborhood, Rose Garden is the 3rd safest neighborhood in San Jose. Just west of Central San Jose it’s a popular place to live with its great mix of residential and commercial, and despite being a bustling place the crime index is 56 percent lower than the city average.
