Homeowners Insurance
Homeowners insurance (HOI) protects the owner of a home from a range of different losses or liabilities depending on the type of policy chosen. HOI policies can cover the home from disasters such as fire damage or falling trees. They can also cover the contents of the home from theft. Additionally, HOI can protect the owner from liabilities associated with the home, such as a person getting injured on the property. The various levels of protection are defined by the Insurance Services Office, or ISO. Purchasing a HOI policy involves a term contract which lasts for a fixed period of time. There are other specialized types of HOI such as earthquake insurance and flood insurance, which are usually purchased separately.
