What is it like to live in Chicago?

One of the most picturesque sights in Chicago’s historic communities is best enjoyed walking west on 103rd Street near the Metra Train stop in one of Chicago’s oldest neighborhoods, Beverly. In the winter, the snow covered evergreens and tall majestic trees popular in this area are simply gorgeous after a fresh snowfall. The best way to appreciate this area is by grabbing a hot cocoa or coffee from Starbucks and enjoy a walking tour.

Located a few steps away is a local art gallery and framing business, an eclectic consignment shop, and just follow the delicious aromas from the Italian eatery Calabria Imports. It’s been around over forty years and is well-known for its signature sandwiches, the star being their homemade Italian meatballs. Delicious!

Another great neighborhood is Hyde Park, located about 10 miles north. This area offers a vast array of diverse architecture, restaurants, boutiques, supermarkets, and specialty stores. A walk down 53rd Street is a special treat. Not only are the residents friendly and engaging, you’ll be hooked as you encounter one interesting visual treat after another.

What are some things to do in Chicago?

Also in the Hyde Park area is the Museum of Science and Industry. No matter how many times you visit, you’ll never tire of the amazing exhibits focusing on the science of yesterday and the technology of the future.

Does live theater, IMAX 3D experiences, and cruising on Chicago’s Lake Michigan all in one place sound exciting? Plan to spend a day at Chicago’s Navy Pier. This wonderful adventure land is family friendly, with numerous events and happenings for adults to enjoy.

If you want something that will take your breath away, visit the 94th floor of the John Hancock Center. The 360 Chicago observation deck reveals Chicago at its best. Experience a panoramic view of this amazing city, including Lake Michigan. The view is especially spectacular on a clear Chicago night.

Why you’ll love it here

Chicago has a plethora of hidden pockets of beautiful architecture, historic homes, neighborhoods, and community organizations, providing a warm and friendly environment. You will always have something to do, the city literally almost never sleeps. Community theater, sports, live music featuring jazz, rock, pop, gospel, and R&B is Chicago’s claim to fame.

Chicago’s homes are priced right and inventory is available. It’s somewhat of a seller’s market, but availability is good. Whether your home style is contemporary or traditional, or you want a neighborhood that feels like a small town, Chicago has something for you.
