You’re probably awesome, but this is a talent you definitely don’t have.

This excellent time lapse of Austin will make you wish you were this good with spray paint. As I watched the amazingly talented artists from the HOPE Outdoor Gallery create their murals, all I could do was think “wow”.

This video captures just how unique and exciting Austin’s artistic community is—from the weird creature cartoons at 1:08 to the bold activist painting at 2:36, the sky’s the limit for these artists.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is what Austin’s all about.

Please don’t sell the Austin artists short by claiming this video clip represents the hard work, inspiration, and talent they possess. These vandals are hacks. They are going through a phase driven by vanity.

What you see walking down the Austin streets is petty vandalism committed with a spray can by youths. To say “This, ladies and gentlemen, is what Austin’s all about” is to express your ignorance of where Austin’s art community has come from and who the contributors really are. I guess that’s to be expected from a website designed to capitalize on selling advertising around hot real estate markets.

Here, here! Too many artists of all types as well as contributors and supporters have put in tireless time and energy that allows future expressionists to hone their craft, but please respect that sacrifice and pay it forward.

My son posted this! I live in Portland, Oregon now.. 25 yrs in Austin. I love this and feel that we need to let the younger people start being who they are. It was all wonderful and very well done.
