Coming in as the safest place to live in North Carolina is the unincorporated community of Corolla. Corolla is home to around 500 permanent residents, but during the summer it attracts thousands of visitors. The community is in Poplar Branch township, in Currituck County, along the northern Outer Banks, and has a Crime Index of 100, which is the safest it can be!
2. River Bend, North Carolina
With a population of around 3,150 people, River Bend is a small town. It’s in Craven County and is less than ten miles from the center of New Bern. River Bend is the second safest town in North Carolina and has a Crime Index of 97.
Marvin is a large village in Union County, in the southeast of North Carolina. Around 5,700 people live in Marvin, and it’s the third safest community in North Carolina. Marvin has a Crime Index of 96 and it’s just south east of Ballantyne.
4. Bald Head Island, NC
The remote village of Bald Head Island is only accessible by water and there’s a ferry service from the nearby town of Southport. The tiny town of Topsail Beach has a population of only around 370 people, but it’s also a very popular summertime destination thanks to its coastal location in Pender County, southern North Carolina. Topsail Beach is ranked the fifth safest town in North Carolina, and has a Crime Index of 95.
6. Laurel Park
Set in the south west of North Carolina is the town of Laurel Park. Laurel Park is in Henderson County, about 27 miles south of Ashville. About 2,200 people live in Laurel Park enjoying its status as the sixth safest place to live in North Carolina. The Crime Index here is 94.
7. Whispering Pines
The village of Whispering Pines is centrally located in North Carolina, in Moore County. The village has a population close to 3,000 people and it’s a scenic place to live with several lakes to enjoy. Whispering Pines is the seventh safest town in North Carolina, and the Crime Index is 94.
8. Camp Lejeune
The small coastal town of Camp Lejeune is actually a military training facility, just outside Jacksonville in Onslow County. Home to about 1,300 people, Camp Lejeune is the eighth safest place in North Carolina, with a Crime Index of 93.
Faison is the ninth safest town in North Carolina. This small town is home to less than a thousand people and it’s set within both Duplin and Sampson Counties, in the center of the state. The Crime Index in Faison is 93.
Ruffin is just a small, unincorporated community but it has its own gold mine! Ruffin is the tenth safest community in North Carolina – the Crime Index is 93, and around 367 people call it home. Ruffin is in Rockingham County, close to the Virginia state line.
