I grew up about 5 miles from Pleasant Hill, IL and went to the county fair for many years. I don’t think we missed the Griggsville fair in all my growing up years either. I went to high school in Pittsfield, IL. My mother still lives there.
I always knew Pike County was a little piece of heaven. Now, I have proof!!!

The one thing they all have in common is that NONE of them are gun-free zones. Criminals know if the break into our homes they will be shot.

A town, a village, and a city are all different things. Of course crime is low.. These aren’t cities!

  7. Sug Benjamin

i grew up in Pleasant Hill in the 50′s, bought my own 22 pistol from money I earned from my paper Route while making payments at the Gamble store. Since that time, I’ve never shot anyone!…..Yet! Lol

I am happy to see some of the towns I am familiar with that made the list, but I don’t really now how they come up with the list bc I know of other towns, villages in Illinois that could make this list, actually several with no crimes. I think they would rate a 100 too.

I’ve lived in large cities, Indianapolis, Tampa, and Denver as well as small towns. My husband and I relocated to a small town two years ago. We LOVE it! There’s obviously amenities we miss such as fine dining options but the benefits far outweigh those. Knowing your neighbors, being able to make an impact on your community, and not having to deal with gunshots and yelling neighbors (as we did in the larger cities) has been a blessing.
