Barton Springs Pool is a popular weekend getaway spot in Austin. It isn't what you would think of as a "pool." It’s actually more like a river with grassy banks and sand bars with cool water that ranges from 68 to 70 degrees all year long. The pool is three acres in size and is fed from natural underground springs that exhibit clear, refreshing water for water sports. Barton Springs Pool is located in Zilker Metropolitan Park, containing a huge playscape and 400 acres of woodlands and sports fields to enjoy.

The residents of Austin head to the Barton Creek Farmers Market every Saturday. You can support your local farmers here by purchasing the freshest produce and local grass-fed beef to make all of your cooking taste superb. The crafts available are infinite and include free knife sharpening, children's activities, live music, organic skin care products, popsicles and ice cream bars, homemade pickles, t-shirts, bags and dresses. You can find about any type of food you wish here on Saturdays and get advice on landscaping your lawn with drought tolerant, native plantings.

The Austin Zoo is well known in the state of Texas. It covers about 15 acres of land and is well organized for visitors. You can enjoy over 300 animals in more than 100 different species including rescues from other locations due to age, health issues or exotics that individuals could no longer care for.  From the humble beginnings as a goat ranch in 1990, the Austin Zoo has grown into an attraction for families in the area.
